- This thesis examines the extent to which plasma electrolytic polishing processes can be applied in the field of medical technology. Various studies have shown that a smooth surface (Ra ≤ 0.04 μm) should be chosen for metallic implants that come into contact with human blood circulation tissue. Plasma electrolytic polishing is therefore well suited for the surface treatment of such medical devices. The result of this work is a technology concept which explains the basic conditions and the process flow. Thus, medical device manufacturers can apply plasma electrolytic polishing economically for suitable medical devices.
