  • Therapeutic options at the time of an occurring glioblastoma multiforme are often limited. The hyperthermic effect turns out to be a successful approach in tumour therapy. The mentioned approach uses magnetic nanoparticles as energy transducer. Currently, the particles remain in the human organism as an implant. By doing so, MRI-Imaging is not an option for postoperative diagnostics. The present thesis aims to evaluate the concept of a residue-free treatment, using a balloon catheter. The basic thermal and physical behavior of balloon catheters is investigated in the context of NanoTherm® therapy. In order to verify the concept described above, the development and construction process of two measurement setups is presented. The thermal behavior of a balloon catheter filled with magnetic nanoparticles is fundamentally investigated on one set-up.
