• In the last years even in Europe there is a hard competition between the several car manufacturers. They use lean methods and a high price pressure on their suppliers to reduce their production costs. The suppliers, like the Robert Bosch GmbH, are working in the same way. But several occurrences of supply chain interrupts or almost-interrupts show, that this methods are maybe not right way. This interrupts, for example determinded by financial problems of the chassis supplier of Landrover are very expensive to compensate. The questions to ask while create or change a supply chain should not be: Who is the cheapest vendor? or How can I minimize my procurement costs? The questions to ask should be: How can I create a resistant and flexible supply chain to ensure my own production capability.?
