- This thesis deals with the concept of preparing a "side panel frame with opposite opening doors with no B-pillar," as a proposed solution to improve the comfortable entrance and exit of small car with five doors. These different approaches have been developed and in terms of comfort, design, security, package and cost were compared. The aim was to find a solution which a significant comfort improvement, coupled with a reasonable financial outlay makes feasible to have a competitive car with improved comfort properties. The surrender of the B-pillar is in terms of costs as the biggest problem. The b-pillar is not only an important stiffening element which is removed, but also the conventional placement of the seat belt, the door seals, as well as the closing bracket is deleted. In addition to these premises, it was dealing with the current legal requirements and safety of the passengers and the recycling requirements for cars, as the occupant safety especially for small cars with small deformation zones should receive special attention.
