New kind of woodworking and effects about that to the design

  • In addition to complex communication, it is above all the use of tools that characterize the evolutionary special position of humans. In 2015, 3.3 million-year-old stone tools were found, which are considered to be the oldest in the world. Axes and hatchets, which are used especially for wood processing, have existed for at least 2.5 million years. 1The process of determining materials in form and function is culturally oriented throughout the history of mankind. Simple production processes have created complex production processes, which now form the standard of our company. Dealing with the material of wood is inextricably linked to human development. The diversity and specialization of these processing methods has significantly expanded over the last 200 years. Both the type of technologies and the material itself are subject to constant change. The product design moves in the stress field of a process-optimized form language up to the representation of technical possibilities in form and material of an object. Machining diversity and sustainability are characteristics of the material, which guarantee the future viability of future generations. Within this work, the range of processing methods and their interaction with the design of forms is considered to provide an insight into the development of established processes as well as new process approaches in dealing with the material of wood.
