Einfluss von Ängstlichkeit und emotionalen Kompetenzen auf das Wohlbefinden bei Beschäftigten und Studierenden der WHZ - Sekundäranalyse der MOBILAS Studie an der WHZ

  • Background and Objectives: To cope successfully with different demands of working and studying, (personal) resources (e.g. emotion regulation competencies) serve as protectors of physical and mental health. The MOBILAS project confirms that the additional burden of the Covid-19 Pandemic led to increased anxiety and a decreased subjective well-being for employees and students at the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau (WHZ). Following this, the current study aims to analyse the correlation between subjective well-being with anxiety and emotion regulation strategies to derive interventions to support employee and student subjective well-being. Methods: The sample consist of n = 545 employees and students of the WHZ. A regression analysis was conducted to quantify the prognostic value of anxiety symptoms and emotion regulation competencies (acceptance, regulation, tolerance) on subjective wellbeing. Results: The regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between anxiety and emotion regulation with subjective wellbeing. Furthermore, the variables anxiety, regulation and tolerance can predict 57 % of subjective wellbeing. Conclusion: To address the low mental health and support employee and student health, the WHZ should implement a comprehensive health care management system. Furthermore, to strengthen emotion regulation competencies the health care management should focus on interventions like the Affect Regulation Training invented by Matthias Berking (Berking und Whitley 2014). Keywords: Covid-19, subjective wellbeing, anxiety, emotion regulation
