Algorithm for merging and record-linkage of Medical Data Objects in the context of a Master Patient Index

  • This thesis examines the conceptional and practical implementation of componants of a Master Patient Index. In the context of intersectoral supply of patients in the german health economy this thesis does researches on record linkage of patient data (and according Medical Data Objects) of different health facillities. One of the further ambitions is to support the quality of medical attendance and cost reduction. To handle this task, the established IT infrastructure of the eHealth Labratory at WHZ was used, where different information systems of the health economy are preinstalled. This includes multible health application systems of different facilities, such as medical practices and hospitals of regular and maximal care. To back up the concept different algorithms for record linkage on an Integrationplattform has been implemented. Patient-related data from different application systems is submitted to the integration server and stored within a local database for further use. Similar entries will be merged on the basis of mathmatical transformations, in order to create a distinct entity within the primary system, which is available for all conected subsystems. This will allow the condolidation of patient data under a single entity.
