• Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Analyse der aktuellen Situation der Mexican Americans in den Vereinigten Staaten. Sprich, im Mittelpunkt stehen die Personen, die entweder aus Mexiko in die USA eingewandert sind oder aus Mexiko immigrierte direkte Vorfahren haben. Der Fokus liegt auf der Integration in gesellschaftlicher und wirtschaftlicher Hinsicht. Deshalb wird zuerst spezifiziert, welcher Definitionsansatz des Begriffes "Integration" bei dieser Arbeit als Grundlage dient. Außerdem wird auf potenzielle Faktoren aufmerksam gemacht, die, abhängig von den Voraussetzungen, immens zum Erfolg der Integration von Migrantengruppen beitragen können. Dazu zählen die politische Integration, die sozialräumliche Integration, die Bildung und die Eingliederung in die Berufswelt. Daneben werden auch zwei wichtige Aspekte erörtert, die einer gelungenen Integration im Weg stehen können. Es folgt sowohl ein Resümee der Migrationshistorie der USA, als auch die Beschreibung der aktuellen und vergangenen Migrationsverläufe zwischen den Vereinigten Staaten und Mexiko. Nachfolgend werden die zuvor beschriebenen Erfolgs- und Hemmfaktoren konkret auf das Beispiel der Mexican Americans in den USA bezogen analysiert. Das letzte Kapitel befasst sich mit der Eingliederung der Mexican Americans in den Arbeitsmarkt der USA. Dabei wird zwischen legalen und illegalen Immigranten unterschieden und der Einfluss letzterer auf die wirtschaftliche Gesamtsituation des Landes beleuchtet.
• This thesis focusses on the analysis of the current situation of Mexican Americans in the United States of America. Mexican Americans are defined as people who immigrated from Mexico into the USA or as descendants of those people. The main topic is the integration with regard to social and economic aspects. Therefore first of all it will be declared, which definition of the term "integration" forms the base of this bachelor thesis. Furthermore some potential factors will be named, which can be crucial for the successful integration of immigrant groups. That success is mostly affected by the prerequisites and abilities, the immigrants already possess and bring to the USA. While analyzing those factors, such as political integration, socio-spatial integration, education and the integration into the labour market, it will also be important to name some aspects that could harm the integrational process. Continuing with an abstract of the history of immigration into the United States, also current and past migration movements between the USA and Mexico will be described. Subsequently the named factors for success and failure will be put in close relation to the example of the Mexican Americans in the USA. In other words, chapter four contains the description of how well Mexican Americans are integrated into the U.S. society. The last part will focus on their integration into the U.S. labour market and economic situation. The conditions for legal and illegal residents are surveyed separately to evaluate the importance of the undocumented immigrants to the United States.
